Jointly established and funded by maritime employers and the Maritime Union of Australia we form a vital link between employers and the maritime workforce. METL is funded by maritime employers, benificiaries of maritime skills, international shipowners and maritime employees.
While we are a not-for-profit organisation, we do operate as a business. Our METL management team consists of talented and experienced people ranging from diverse industry backgrounds.
METL has developed effective partnerships with employers, registered training organisations, industry bodies, and regulators to ensure quality educational and employment outcomes.
Our overarching objectives is to advance the productivity of the industry. We supply highly qualified seafarers to industry by providing effective skill development pathways for maritime employees.
METL aims to provide high quality, accessible training to trainees in nationally recognised traineeship vocations required by the relevant Vocational Training Order to support the future needs of all employers across various sectors.
METL undertakes a rigorous, 7-step, merit-based recruitment and selection process for TIRs. This process is highly regarded in the industry and exceeds minimum industry requirements. It also ensures we have the best chance of selecting the most appropriate candidates for the role.
