Group Training Explained

METL provides pathways for skill development in maritime trainees, and in doing so, helps to advance the maritime industry as a whole.

Group Training Organisations (GTOs) play an important role within the VET sector by employing trainees and apprentices with skills suited to their passion.

Group Training supports trainees and employers by handling all aspects of the traineeship or apprenticeship. GTOs employ the trainees and apprentices and place them with host businesses. The GTO is responsible for organising all aspects training, overseeing the completion and qualification of its employees.

A key feature of group training is the emphasis on mentoring and support for those being trained. Experienced staff provide hands-on support and resolve any workplace issues that arise, optimising the experience for the employer and employee by advancing skills and lifting retention and completion rates.
